Redesigned 2017 Mercedes-Benz
SLC to Debut in 2016
Twenty years after defining a new segment, Mercedes-Benz
introduces the newly redesigned 2017 SLC. This updated version of the SLC will
include significantly optimized technology with an enhanced look. Â
The SLC was previously known as the SLK and this new name
change acknowledges the close relationship with the C-Class, from which much of
the roadster's technology borrowed. This new version of the SLC is
comprehensively refined, with a model line-up from the sporty SLC300 to the
high performance Mercedes-AMG SLC43.
When the SLC launches, the available engine variant will be
the SLC300, featuring a 2.0l direct injection, turbocharged four-cylinder with
241hp and 273lb-ft. Conversely, the
Mercedes-AMG SLC43 will feature a 2.0l V6 bi-turbo engine with 362 hp and
384lb-ft.
Exterior changes for the updated SLC will include a new
front-end design with new halogen headlights, integrated daytime running
lights, a new front bumper, a diamond grille, narrower taillights, and a new
rear bumper with integrated exhaust pipes. In addition, Interior modifications
will include a new sport steering wheel, standard 7" display, new instrument
cluster design, new upholstery colors, and two additional colors for the
optional Ambient Lighting in polar blue and polar white.
The redesigned SLC's standard equipment will feature DYNAMIC
Select, a Sports Exhaust System, electric trunk partition, rearview camera,
Active Braking Assist (Collision Prevention Assist Plus), pre-wiring for Garmin
Navigation, and mbrace LTE. Optional equipment for the refreshed SLC will
include a new Infotainment generation, dynamic LED headlamps, new 18" wheels,
and a Sports Package with re-designed front and rear bumper, as well as 18" AMG
wheels.
The 2017 SLC will debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January
and is expected to be able to be purchased at Mercedes-Benz of Tampa in the
spring of 2016. The Mercedes-AMG SLC43 is anticipated to follow with the
ability to purchase in the summer of 2016.
