2015 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class Recall InformationNHTSA recall information identifies three affected components for the 2015 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class: Communication Software, Electronic Stability Control, and Headlight. A recall means the manufacturer has identified a safety-related issue and defined a corrective remedy. An authorized franchise dealer performs that remedy at no charge to the owner when the vehicle is covered.

The Communication Software recall concerns a fault that may cause the emergency call system’s date and time to differ from the actual date and time. That could send emergency responders an inaccurate vehicle location and delay assistance, increasing the risk of injury. Mercedes-Benz initiated an over-the-air update and may have dealers verify the update or update the communication module software.

The Electronic Stability Control recall involves software that may incorrectly keep the brakes slightly applied. Prolonged brake drag can heat brake components, affect braking performance, and increase crash risk. The overheated brakes may also increase the risk of fire. The manufacturer remedy is an ESC software update.

The Headlight recall involves low-beam headlights that may have been aimed incorrectly during production. Improper aim can reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash. The manufacturer remedy is an inspection and, if necessary, adjustment of the headlamps. Your VIN determines whether a specific campaign applies to your vehicle and whether the repair remains open.

Safety Comes First

NHTSA recall information identifies three affected components associated with this model line. A Communication Software fault may cause the emergency call system to transmit an inaccurate vehicle location, potentially delaying emergency responders. Electronic Stability Control software may keep the brakes slightly applied, creating brake heat that can reduce braking performance, increase crash risk, and raise the possibility of fire. A Headlight issue may leave low-beam lamps aimed incorrectly, reducing visibility. Waiting can leave a safety-related condition unresolved. A VIN check confirms which campaigns apply and whether the manufacturer remedy has been completed.
